Profile

Prof. Dr. Tsukasa Ishizawa is an architectural computational design, and data-driven design-build specialist. His research interest has been placed on implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the subsequent value raised from the process. The dissertation thesis devised the data-driven analysis to discover the key players in the Japanese BIM project. As a project associate professor at the Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo, he focuses on the value convergence of BIM, game engines and Web3 technologies.


Tsukasa is a Group Leader of the Computational Design Group at Takenaka Corporation, one of the largest Japanese design-build general contractors. Since joining the firm in 2006, He has been at the center of corporate digital transformation in architectural design. His architectural projects include Tokyo Disney Land, Mercedes Benz Japan, Shiseido Headquarters (all in Tokyo metropolitan area), and Nagoya Castle Reconstruction. His BIM management projects include Capita Green and Changi Airport Terminal 4 (both in Singapore) and NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation, Tokyo).


Tsukasa has regularly taught at the University of Tokyo, Keio University, Tokyo University of Science and Ritsumeikan University. He has spoken at venues including Advancing Computational Building Design, Singapore Construction Productivity Week and Autodesk University. He is also an enthusiastic writer; the authored articles are available in online publications at ArchiFuture Web and JABS. His YouTube channel gained more than 900 subscribers.
