Profile

Artist and entrepreneur, graduated from Tama Art University in 2001 and started making art under the theme of ‘art in the age of the internet’. He has been ahead of industry trends, including patenting in Japan and the US in 2006 the redemption mechanism that is now standardised in NFT transactions worldwide.In 2014, while still a postgraduate student at the University of Tokyo, he started Startburn Inc. to provide infrastructure to support the reliability assurance and value transfer of artworks. The core of the business, Startrail, received a grant from the Ethereum Foundation in recognition of its public nature. Currently serves on the board of the Eastern Culture Support Foundation and the Open Art Consortium. He has been a part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts and a member of the Study Group on Art and Economic Society of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. As an artist, he has organised solo and group exhibitions, as well as exhibitions such as ‘Mt Fuji Exhibition’ (2017-2020), ‘SIZELESS TWIN’ (2022) and ‘Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa’ (2022). His main publications include Heibonsha Shinsho (New Form of Art: What Will NFT Art Change?).
